SOME HISTORY ON THIS SCHOLARSHIP:
Brunswick County Republican Women are honored to rename their scholarship the “Jackie Iler Memorial Scholarship,” in recognition of the valuable contributions the late Mrs. Iler made to the community, the Republican Women, and especially to this scholarship program.
Two $1,000 scholarships will be offered. Eligible are young women who are planning to attend college and who are graduating high school seniors.
Students meeting these qualifications who are attending Brunswick County High Schools, Brunswick Academy, Brunswick County Early College Program, and private schools, along with home-schooled students, are strongly encouraged to apply.
Applicants must submit a 500-550 word essay on the topic “Why Is America Exceptional?” Scholarships will be awarded on the basis of the essay, academics, school and community involvement, and communication skills. Application materials have been distributed to the guidance departments at each public high school and will be available here.
Entries must be postmarked no later than April 16, 2015, and must be accompanied by the application form, two letters of reference (one from a teacher), high school transcript, and voter registration information.
