On August 4, 2016, we held our monthly membership meeting, and the program was entitled, “Freedom Not Socialism.” We were honored that the two winners of our 2016 Jackie Iler Memorial Scholarship — Emily Tyson and Michelle Eddinger — were in attendance and read their impressive essays on “Why Is America Exceptional?” Both of our winners are graduates of South Brunswick High School. Shown below from left to right are Emily Tyson; Mary Stilwell, BCRW President; Judge Pauline Hankins, Scholarship Chairperson; and Michelle Eddinger. We wish Emily and Michelle well in all their future endeavors. Enjoy your first year of college, ladies! We also were pleased to have two representatives from the “Young America’s Foundation” (YAF), Jason Barbour and Colin Monaghan, in attendance to share with us the history and mission of the Young America’s Foundation. YAF is the principal outreach organization of the Conservative Movement, committed to ensuring that increasing numbers of young Americans understand and are inspired by the ideas of individual freedom, a strong national defense, free enterprise, and traditional values. The YAF also stepped forward to save the Ronald Reagan Ranch (the Western White House) in 1998, and now welcomes guests to the Ranch and the Reagan Ranch Center in Santa Barbara, CA, where conferences and seminars are held. Pictured at the bottom of the page are Jason, George and Joan Mangelsdorf, and Colin. For more information on YAF, please visit www.yaf.org or call 1-800-USA-1776.
