Angela Light Wins High School Scholarship

BCRW 2013 Scholarship Winner Angela Light - 1Angela Light of West Brunswick High School was pre­sented with a cer­tifi­cate as win­ner of a $1000 schol­ar­ship from Brunswick County Repub­li­can Women.  Pic­tured with Angela are BCRW Pres­i­dent Kathy Lawler, Vice Pres­i­dent Mary Stil­well, and Schol­ar­ship Com­mit­tee Chair­woman Ros­alie Russo.  Angela is one of two win­ners of BCRW’s 2013 Schol­ar­ship Com­pe­ti­tion.   Kaylee Shope of North Brunswick High School is the Club’s other win­ner.  Kaylee received her cer­tifi­cate at her school’s award pro­gram earlier in May.  Appli­cants for the schol­ar­ship were judged on an essay: What Are the Dif­fer­ences Between a Demo­c­rat and a Repub­li­can, let­ters of rec­om­men­da­tion, high school tran­script, and interview.

BCRW Scholarship Winner Kaylee Shope-1Kaylee Shope of North Brunswick High School was presented with a certificate as winner of a $1000 scholarship from Brunswick County Republican Women.  Pictured with Kaylee are BCRW President Kathy Lawler, Vice President Mary Stilwell, and Scholarship Committee Chairwoman Rosalie Russo.  Kaylee is one of two winners of BCRW’s 2013 Scholarship Competition.   Angela Light of West Brunswick High School is the Club’s other winner.  Angela will receive her certificate at her school’s award program on May 29th.  Appli­cants for the schol­ar­ship were judged on an essay: What Are the Dif­fer­ences Between a Demo­c­rat and a Repub­li­can, let­ters of rec­om­men­da­tion, high school tran­script, and inter­view.

BCRW Announces 2013 Scholarship Winners

ScholarshipKaylee Shope of North Brunswick High School & Angela Light of West Brunswick High School were judged win­ners of BCRW’s annual Schol­ar­ship Pro­gram.  Each will receive a $1,000 scholarship.  In addition, the two young women will be guests-of-honor at the Club’s Annual Spring Luncheon, June 1st, Dockside Seafood House, Calabash.  Applicants for the scholarship were judged on a essay: What Are the Differences Between a Democrat and a Republican, letters of recommendation, high school transcript, and interview.  Congratulations Kaylee and Angela!

Beke Lindsay Wins Kenan Fellowship

Beke LindsayBCRW congratulates our own Beke Lindsay who was recently awarded a Kenan Fellowship from the Kenan Institute for Engineering, Technology and Science at North Carolina State University.  Beke was chosen as one of 49 educators from a pool of 230 candidates. She will participate with other teachers this summer to help create a curriculum for an online database. We’re proud of you, Beke!

In addition, four Brunswick County Republicans were elected to at-large spots on NC 7th Congressional District Republican Party & North Carolina Republican Party Executive Committees at today’s convention: Bill Conger, Joe Agovino, Commissioner Pat Sykes, and Jay Vics. BCRW Offers College Scholarship

Scholarship

The Republican Women of Brunswick County are offering a $1000 scholarship to two young women who will be a graduating senior at any of the three Brunswick County high schools, Brunswick Early College and Brunswick Academy, private schools and home-schooled graduating seniors.  We encourage all young women who are graduating seniors planning to attend college to apply for this college scholarship.  Scholarships will be awarded on the basis of an essay, academic achievement, and school and community involvement and communication skills.  Each applicant must submit a typed 500 to 550 word essay, written on THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A REPUBLICAN AND A DEMOCRAT.  For more information, contact the guidance counselor at your local high school.

National Federation of Republican Women Mourns Lives Lost in Newtown, Connecticut

While the shock of such an evil act envelopes the community of Newtown and the families and friends of those victimized, the strength and the prayers of all Americans surround each of them as we hold them close in our hearts.”

Great news today in North Carolina.  Democrat Linda Coleman conceded the Lt. Governor race to Republican Dan Forest.  Dan is NC’s next Lt.
