We are happy to announce that we will again be offering two $1,000 scholarships to young women who are graduating high school seniors planning to attend college. Students at the Brunswick County High Schools, Brunswick Academy, Brunswick County Early College Program, and private schools, along with home-schooled students, are strongly encouraged to apply. Applicants must submit a 500-550 word essay on the topic, “Why Is America Exceptional?” Scholarships will be awarded based on the essay, academics, school and community involvement, and communications skills. Application materials have been distributed to the guidance departments at each public high school and will be available on this website shortly. Entries must be postmarked no later than April 21, 2017, and must be accompanied by the application form, two letters of reference (one from a teacher), high school transcript, and voter registration information.
Lara Trump visited our GOP Headquarters yesterday, September 23! We were so excited to meet her and listen to her talk about her father-in-law’s vision for America. She is another example of how personable and patriotic the members of the Trump family are. Lara was kind enough to stay awhile after her speech and pose for pictures.

On August 4, 2016, we held our monthly membership meeting, and the program was entitled, “Freedom Not Socialism.” We were honored that the two winners of our 2016 Jackie Iler Memorial Scholarship — Emily Tyson and Michelle Eddinger — were in attendance and read their impressive essays on “Why Is America Exceptional?” Both of our winners are graduates of South Brunswick High School. Shown below from left to right are Emily Tyson; Mary Stilwell, BCRW President; Judge Pauline Hankins, Scholarship Chairperson; and Michelle Eddinger. We wish Emily and Michelle well in all their future endeavors. Enjoy your first year of college, ladies! We also were pleased to have two representatives from the “Young America’s Foundation” (YAF), Jason Barbour and Colin Monaghan, in attendance to share with us the history and mission of the Young America’s Foundation. YAF is the principal outreach organization of the Conservative Movement, committed to ensuring that increasing numbers of young Americans understand and are inspired by the ideas of individual freedom, a strong national defense, free enterprise, and traditional values. The YAF also stepped forward to save the Ronald Reagan Ranch (the Western White House) in 1998, and now welcomes guests to the Ranch and the Reagan Ranch Center in Santa Barbara, CA, where conferences and seminars are held. Pictured at the bottom of the page are Jason, George and Joan Mangelsdorf, and Colin. For more information on YAF, please visit www.yaf.org or call 1-800-USA-1776.
Mark your calendars for our next BCRW Membership Meeting! It will take place on Thursday, August 4, at 6:30 p.m. at GOP Headquarters, 971 Old Ocean Highway in Bolivia. Our program is entitled, “Freedom Not Socialism,” and will feature the two winners of our 2016 Jackie Iler Memorial Scholarship, who will read the great essays they wrote that helped them win this scholarship. We also will hear from two representatives of the Young America’s Foundation, which is affiliated with the Ronald Reagan California Ranch. This foundation strives to grow young conservative minds across our country because, in the words of William F. Buckley, Jr., “…one’s country is going to be run, in a matter of days now, by these kids. They are going to be making the important decisions.” Light refreshments will be served. The public is welcome! We look forward to seeing you!
Donald Trump today (July 16, 2016) appeared at the Hilton Hotel in New York City, NY, with Governor Mike Pence from Indiana, and formally introduced Governor Pence as Mr. Trump’s Vice Presidential nominee. Congratulations to Governor Pence! Looks like a winning team that will “Make America Great Again!”
